Miriam Rowntree is an Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Writing Studies in the Department of Literature and Languages at the University of Texas at Tyler. She holds a PhD in English from the University of Texas at Arlington, where her dissertation was titled “On the Subject of Ruins: A Fractured Rhetorical Ontology.”
Her research focuses on Writing Center Studies, Writing with AI, and developmental education, particularly through her involvement in the College Readiness and Success Models grant funded by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. She serves as both Writing Center Director and Composition Director at UT Tyler, overseeing initiatives in first-year composition and advanced rhetoric seminars.
Miriam’s publications appear in journals such as a/b: autobiography studies and Utopian Studies. Her teaching spans foundational to advanced writing courses, emphasizing rhetorical theory and practical application.
