Miriam Gauer

Miriam Gauer serves as a Research Fellow at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin) within the Survey Methodology and Management department of the Socio-Economic Panel Study (SOEP), specializing in migration samples and gender-integration research since August 2020. Her work focuses on documenting migration variables and analyzing gender dynamics in integration processes using longitudinal panel data.

She holds a Master's degree in Political Science from the University of Mannheim (2016), completed with a DAAD-funded semester at Johns Hopkins University. Her master's thesis on EU family policies' impact on gender role attitudes earned the Elisabeth Altmann Gottheiner Prize for gender and diversity research.

Her research integrates survey methodology with migration and gender studies, examining how refugee households navigate care work divisions and labor market participation. She develops migration-specific variables for the SOEP while investigating intersections between employment patterns and gender equality in integration outcomes.
