Miranda Leach is a qualified midwife and academic currently serving as a Lecturer in Midwifery at City St George's, University of London, within the School of Health Sciences. She holds a strong clinical background and remains actively engaged in hospital-based practice, bringing evidence-based knowledge and practical expertise to her teaching. She previously taught at the University of Suffolk before returning to her alma mater. Miranda serves in key administrative roles including Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Link and Erasmus Exchange Link for Midwifery.

Miranda's research and professional interests focus on improving maternal outcomes through midwifery education, public health interventions, and safeguarding practices. Her seminal MSc dissertation explored Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), reflecting her commitment to addressing critical health disparities. She is passionate about enhancing the knowledge and resilience of midwifery practitioners through restorative clinical supervision and professional advocacy. As a qualified Professional Midwifery Advocate, she supports peers through mentorship and reflective practice.
Miranda has been recognized for her contributions to higher education and equity in academia. She is a Fellow of the Council of Deans of Health and is currently participating in the prestigious '100 Black Professors Now' programme led by the Women in Higher Education Network, which aims to support Black women in advancing to professorial roles.

Miranda's academic journey began with a degree in Chemistry from Manchester Metropolitan University, followed by a pivotal shift into midwifery after volunteering at St Mary’s Hospital maternity unit in Manchester. She advanced to Band 8a Named Midwife for Safeguarding and served as a charge midwife at Corniche Hospital in Abu Dhabi. Her dedication to teaching was sparked during her Mentorship Certificate training, leading to formal academic roles. She continues to integrate clinical experience with pedagogy, aiming to transform midwifery education and practice through inclusive, evidence-based approaches.
