معرفی
Dr Mirai Morita is a Lecturer in the School of Architecture and Civil Engineering at the University of Adelaide, Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology. She has been a member of the academic staff since 2013, contributing to architectural education and research with a strong emphasis on ecological integration and human-centered design.
Her research interests span two primary domains: Living Architecture and Architecture for Children. In Living Architecture, she explores how buildings can evolve into dynamic, symbiotic systems that interact with their environments using bio-receptive surfaces and responsive façades. Her work promotes regenerative design that goes beyond sustainability to actively improve environmental quality. In the domain of early childhood, she investigates how spatial configurations, natural materials, and connections to nature influence cognitive, emotional, and social development in young children.
Dr Morita brings global professional experience from working at internationally recognized firms such as OMA and Atelier Bow-Wow, where she contributed to large-scale masterplans, cultural projects, residential designs, and exhibitions. This practice-informed perspective enriches her teaching and research methodology, which emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration with ecology, engineering, and fabrication disciplines.
She is eligible to co-supervise Masters and PhD candidates and encourages prospective students to contact her for supervision opportunities. Although no specific scientific awards or publications are listed in the available profile, her research trajectory reflects a commitment to innovative, socially and environmentally responsive architectural solutions.
Dr Morita leads or contributes to research initiatives focused on experimental design processes, including prototyping and performance testing, aiming to redefine the relationship between the natural and built environments. Her vision is to develop architectural systems that behave like ecosystems—adaptive, resilient, and life-enhancing.
