Mira Mezini

Mira Mezini is a Full Professor (W3) of Computer Science at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany, where she leads the Software Technology Group. Her academic journey includes a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Siegen, visiting assistant professorship at Northeastern University (USA), and visiting professorships at Lancaster University (UK) and Università della Svizzera Italiana (Switzerland).

• Current Roles: Spokesperson of hessian.AI, member of the board of the National Research Center for Applied Cyber Security ATHENE, and leadership roles at TU Darmstadt (Dean of Computer Science, Vice President for Knowledge Transfer, Vice President for Research and Innovation).
• Research Focus: Programming systems for reliable distributed software and AI, automated software analysis, and foundational code models.

Her research has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Dahl-Nygaard Prize 2025, Google Research Award, ERC Advanced Grant, and multiple IBM Innovation Awards. Mezini has also held leadership roles in scientific organizations such as the ACM SIGPLAN Executive Committee, DFG Senate, and ERC Scientific Council’s selection committee.
