Miquel Moreno Ferrer is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), affiliated with the Computational BioNanoCat research group. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences (1986) and advanced degrees from UAB, including a Bachelor's and Diploma in Chemical Sciences (1982–1983).
His research focuses on theoretical chemistry, biomolecular simulations, and the design of photoswitches for drug development and photopharmacology. Key projects include combating cancer through inflammation-based therapies, developing novel treatments for human diseases like COVID-19, and elucidating molecular mechanisms of inflammatory processes. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in advancing health and innovation.
Recent projects (2021–2027) involve biomolecular engineering, infrared neuroreceptor stimulation, and multi-state photoswitch computational design. His research outputs span over 149 publications, with notable contributions to International Journal of Molecular Sciences and Angewandte Chemie International Edition.
