معرفی
Miquel Barceló Oliver is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), where he has been a faculty member since 2008. He teaches across multiple degree programs including Chemistry, Physics, Pharmacy, and the Master's in Chemical Science and Technology, delivering core courses such as Inorganic Chemistry II, General Chemistry Laboratory I, and Experimentation in Biological Chemistry.
His research focuses on the interactions of metal ions with biologically and pharmacologically relevant molecules, with a particular emphasis on RNA riboswitches and crystallography. He is the principal researcher of the Bioinorganic and Bioorganic Chemistry (QUIMIBIO) group and a member of the Cell Therapy and Tissue Engineering (TERCIT) research group.

Miquel Barceló Oliver has supervised 1 PhD thesis, 5 Master’s theses (TFMs), and 9 undergraduate projects (TFGs). He has been awarded 2 research six-year periods (sexenios) and 3 teaching five-year periods (quinquenios), recognizing sustained excellence in research and teaching. He advises PhD students in the Chemical Science and Technology program and has been consistently involved in teaching across five academic years.
He leads the Bioinorganic and Bioorganic Chemistry (QUIMIBIO) research group, an experimental R+D+I laboratory focused on coordination compounds and biological applications. He is also a contributing member of the Cell Therapy and Tissue Engineering (TERCIT) group, integrating inorganic chemistry with biomedical research.
