Dr. Minjoo Kim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Accounting and Finance at the University of Liverpool's Management School. He joined in 2018 after a prior position at the University of Glasgow. He holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Leeds and undergraduate degrees from Sungkyunkwan University.
His research focuses on financial modeling, empirical asset pricing, and corporate finance issues, with contributions to journals like the Journal of Corporate Finance and Journal of Banking and Finance. He has been recognized with a 2015 Outstanding Contribution award for reviewing from the Journal of Banking and Finance.
Teaching responsibilities include modules such as Empirical Corporate Finance and Accounting, Financial Crises and Defaults, and Security Analysis and Investment. He has supervised research on detecting accounting fraud in China.
Professional activities include roles as Pathway Lead (2019–2021), Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and active refereeing for journals including Journal of Banking & Finance and European Journal of Finance.
Dr. Kim is affiliated with the Liverpool Advanced Methods for Big Data Analytics (LAMBDA) Research Centre, reflecting his expertise in data-driven financial analysis.
