Ming Ying is a Researcher and Lab Manager (PhD) in the Department of Biomedicine at the University of Bergen. He holds a PhD in Structural & Functional Biology from the same institution (2001). His work focuses on enzyme function, genetic disorders (e.g., phenylketonuria), and molecular mechanisms underlying metabolic and neurological processes.
Research interests include: biochemistry of aromatic amino acid hydroxylases, pharmacological chaperones for enzyme stabilization, protein interactions (e.g., 14-3-3 proteins), and structural biology of cellular compartments (e.g., pre-Golgi intermediates). He contributes to drug discovery efforts targeting enzyme deficiencies and has expertise in mouse models of genetic diseases.
Key publications span 2000–2021, emphasizing enzyme dysfunction, protein trafficking, and therapeutic interventions. His lab collaborates with groups in Switzerland, Spain, and the U.S., focusing on translational research linking basic biology to clinical applications.
