Professor Ming Su is a faculty member in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Northeastern University, part of the College of Engineering. He leads the Translational Nanomedicine Lab, focusing on nanoparticles for disease detection, radiation therapy, and covert thermal barcoding. His work integrates advanced materials, biomedical engineering, and nanotechnology to develop next-generation diagnostic and therapeutic platforms.
Education:
- B.S. in Analytical Chemistry, Northwest University (China), 1993
- Ph.D. in Materials Sciences and Engineering, Northwestern University, 2004
Research Interests:
Professor Su’s research spans nanoparticle engineering, thermally readable tagging systems, and radiation-enhanced therapies. He develops phase-change nanoparticles for disease screening (e.g., cancers, Alzheimer’s) and drug authentication. His lab also explores nanomaterials for energy applications, including adsorption cooling and solar-driven steam generation.
Awards & Honors:
- National Science Foundation CAREER Award
- National Institutes of Health Director’s New Innovator Award
- Eugene P. Wigner Fellowship (Oak Ridge National Lab)
Grants & Projects:
Recent projects include NSF-funded studies on thermal biosensing and NIH-supported nanoparticle-enhanced radiation therapy. His lab collaborates on high-throughput screening for coke-resistant catalysts and barcode systems with unprecedented labeling capacity.
Labs & Teams:
The Translational Nanomedicine Lab at Northeastern drives interdisciplinary efforts in materials innovation, with active partnerships in biomedical and environmental engineering.
