Mindy Joseph, PhD, CFP®, is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Personal Financial Planning at Kansas State University (KSU), part of the College of Health and Human Sciences. She also serves as Director of the Financial Services Leadership Institute. Her academic background includes a Ph.D. in Personal Financial Planning from KSU, an MBA in Finance from DePaul University, and a B.S. in Accounting from Syracuse University.
Dr. Joseph’s research focuses on the intersection of psychology and financial decision-making, particularly among emerging adults and underrepresented groups. Her work explores ethical oversight of financial professionals, sudden wealth management, and behavioral finance. Notable projects include studies on financial literacy for college athletes and the role of financial advisors in shaping risk tolerance.
Her publications span peer-reviewed journals like the Financial Planning Review and Journal of Athlete Development and Experience, with recent submissions addressing strategic savings and retirement decision-making. Dr. Joseph has received recognition as a member of the Kappa Omicron Nu honor society.
In addition to teaching, she has secured grant funding through the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) and actively participates in professional service roles, including scholarship reviews and editorial contributions to Financial Planning Review. Her industry experience spans over 20 years, including roles as a financial advisor and wealth manager.
