Mina Kyounghye Kwon

Dr. Mina Kyounghye Kwon is a Professor of English specializing in World Literature, Asian/Asian American Studies, and Performance Studies at the University of North Georgia’s College of Arts & Letters. She holds a Ph.D. in English with a Theatre & Performance certificate from The Ohio State University, focusing on postcolonial drama and comparative literature. Her research emphasizes Korean traditional puppet theatre’s translation and modern reinterpretations.

Education includes a B.A. (summa cum laude) from Kangwon National University, South Korea, and teaching roles at UCLA and Ohio State University. She co-edited peer-reviewed world literature anthologies for the University System of Georgia, including World Literature I and Compact Anthology of World Literature.

Her scholarship bridges global literary traditions with performance studies, as seen in publications on Han Kang, Korean puppetry, and Asian American drama. Awards include the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award and multiple UNG honors. She teaches courses on Asian American literature, world literature, and East Asian film.

Grants and fellowships include ASTR’s Targeted Research Area Grant. Her translation work appears in Delos, and she actively contributes to theatre journals like Asian Theatre Journal. She advocates for cross-cultural dialogue through performance and literary analysis.
