Mina Kim serves as an Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Department of Asian Studies at The University of Texas at Austin's College of Liberal Arts since 2019, teaching Korean language courses to undergraduates. Previously, she taught Korean at Austin Independent School District for four years and worked as an equity analyst at Deutsche Bank AG and Credit Suisse First Boston (now UBS) for a decade.
Her educational background includes a BA in English Literature and MA in Economics from Ewha Womans University (Seoul, Korea), plus teaching certification from Seoul National University's Korean Teacher Training Program. She also gained international experience at the Czech Embassy's Cultural Division in Korea.
Kim specializes in modernizing Korean language curriculum through pedagogical innovation, with research emphasizing bilingual education, experiential learning via global collaborations, and student-centered approaches in connected classrooms. She actively develops instructional resources while fostering international partnerships to enhance language acquisition.
Her award-winning work includes two Global Virtual Exchange Grants enabling cross-border collaborations between UT Austin, University of Vienna, University of Central Lancashire, and Charles University for immersive Korean language learning.
