Milton Rubén Laufer

Dr. Milton Rubén Laufer is the Jack G. Buncher Chair and Head of the School of Music at Carnegie Mellon University's College of Fine Arts. A Chicago native with Puerto Rican and Cuban heritage, he began piano studies at age three and received training at prestigious institutions including the Eastman School of Music and Moscow's Gnessin Institute.

Laufer advocates for music's dual role as marketable asset and social catalyst, raising over $35 million for arts institutions. As a Yamaha Artist, he has performed at iconic venues like Lincoln Center and Tchaikovsky Hall, collaborating with artists including Natalie Cole and Chucho Valdés.

He serves as founding trustee of the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame, active Grammy voting member, and co-founder of Tacitus International Consulting Group. His scholarly work includes urtext editions of Isaac Albéniz's piano compositions published by G. Henle Verlag.
