Milinda Hoo is Assistant Professor of Ancient History and Identity Formation at Utrecht University’s Department of History and Art History. Her work bridges Hellenistic studies with Central Asian archaeology, focusing on globalization theories, postcolonial approaches, and cultural inbetweenness. She is an associate member of the ERC Project 'Beyond the Silk Road' and co-editor-in-chief of TALANTA: Peer-reviewed Journal for the Study of Antiquity.
- Research Focus: Hellenistic Central Asia, cultural identity, translocalism, frontier zones, and memory studies.
- Key Themes: Globalization processes, postcolonial historiography, hybrid material culture, and imperial peripheries.
Her recent work includes articles on Baktrian kingship, Alexandrian legacy critiques, and the historiography of Central Asian inbetweenness. She co-organized the HCARN conferences and contributes to debates on ancient globalization beyond Silk Road narratives.
