Milan Wolffgramm serves as a Principal Investigator at Saxion University of Applied Sciences, holding dual affiliations with the Employability Transition research group (Academy of Human Resources) and the Smart Mechatronics and Robotics research group (Academy of Life Science, Engineering & Design). Recently nominated as a finalist for the New Scientist Science Talent 2025 award—recognizing young scientific innovators across the Netherlands and Flanders—he stands as the sole university of applied sciences graduate among 15 nominees.
His research spans over seven years of pioneering work on human-robot collaboration in industrial production environments, focusing on how interactive robots can support frontline workers. This culminated in a practice-oriented PhD dissertation developed in partnership with the University of Groningen, featuring actionable tools for designing effective human-robot workflows with direct worker involvement.
- Key Research Themes: Industrial automation, workforce transition in tech-driven manufacturing, and practical implementation of collaborative robotics (cobots)
- Impact Translation: Findings systematically converted into business publications and teaching materials for higher professional education, vocational training, and secondary schools
Wolffgramm views his Science Talent nomination as critical recognition for applied sciences research, stating it validates Saxion's contribution to building a 'high-tech, competitive, and sustainable Netherlands with viable jobs for everyone.' The award winner will be announced during Science Weekend (October 4-5, 2025), followed by a featured presentation at the November 2025 Science Gala alongside leading scientists like Hans Clevers.
