Mikko Villi is a Full Professor of Journalism Studies at the University of Jyväskylä's Department of Language and Communication Sciences. He holds an Adjunct Professorship (Docentship) in Communication Studies at the University of Helsinki. He earned his doctorate from Aalto University's Department of Media in 2010. His research focuses on the future of journalism, including media work, digital transition, audience research, and the role of new media platforms. He has held leadership roles, such as President of the Finnish Association for Media and Communication Studies (2018–2021).
