Mikkel Thorbjørn Mikkelsen

Mikkel Thorbjørn Mikkelsen is a PhD Fellow at the Quantum Optics and Photonics research group within the Niels Bohr Institute at the University of Copenhagen. His work focuses on practical implementations of quantum communication technologies.

His research interests center on quantum optics applications for secure communication, particularly quantum key distribution systems using advanced single-photon sources. His work bridges theoretical quantum information science with practical optical engineering challenges in real-world fiber networks.

His recent publications demonstrate significant progress in implementing quantum key distribution using deterministic single-photon sources over field-installed fiber infrastructure, moving quantum cryptography closer to practical deployment.
