Mikkel Brabrand

Mikkel Brabrand is a medical doctor and active researcher in emergency and acute medicine, affiliated with the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and Odense University Hospital (OUH). He serves as Head of Research at the Research Unit of Emergency Medicine (Odense) and also leads the SDU Climate Cluster. His work bridges clinical practice, epidemiology, and digital health innovation.

His research interests focus on risk stratification using abnormal vital signs, emergency department operations, and the application of digital sensors and AI in acute care. He is deeply involved in randomized controlled trials and large-scale observational studies, with a strong emphasis on improving early diagnosis and treatment in emergency settings.

The recent articles highlight a trend toward integrating advanced monitoring technologies—such as remote photoplethysmography, infrared thermography, and wearable sensors—into emergency care.
