Mikhail Vladimirovich Lazarev

Mikhail Vladimirovich Lazarev serves as both an Associate Professor in the Department of Big Data and Information Retrieval and a Research Fellow at the Research and Educational Laboratory of Big Data Analysis Methods within the Faculty of Computer Science at the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE).

He earned his PhD from the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne (2019), following Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Applied Mathematics and Physics from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (2013 and 2011 respectively). His academic journey includes research positions at EPFL's Laboratory of Physics of Nanostructures (2013-2019) and teaching experience as an Assistant Professor at EPFL.

Dr. Lazarev's research spans Machine Learning, Nanophysics, Data Analysis, and Optics, with notable contributions at the intersection of computational physics and artificial intelligence. His work bridges theoretical foundations with practical applications across materials science, semiconductor physics, and healthcare domains.

His publication record reveals a clear interdisciplinary trajectory, with recent work focusing on applying machine learning to materials science challenges (such as 2D material design and fullerene network stability) while simultaneously expanding into medical applications (particularly cardiology).
