Mikhail Berezin

Mikhail Berezin is an Associate Professor of Radiology at Washington University School of Medicine with affiliated appointment in Chemistry. His laboratory develops optical techniques for biomedical and environmental applications.

Research focuses on: (1) Design and spectroscopy of NIR/SWIR optical probes (750-2000nm) for reduced biological interference; (2) Hyperspectral imaging instrumentation and algorithms from UV to MWIR spectral ranges; (3) Optical methods for quantitative assessment of peripheral nerve injuries and chemotherapy-induced neuropathies; (4) Hyperspectral monitoring of plant stress responses using chlorophyll, water, and lipid signatures.

The lab employs techniques spanning chemistry, biology, biomedical engineering, and scientific computing to advance optical diagnostics and environmental monitoring.
