Mikhael Johanes

Dr. Mikhael Johanes is a Researcher affiliated with the Department of Circular Engineering for Architecture at ETH Zürich. His work focuses on applying machine learning to architectural design, particularly in developing generative models for adaptive building reuse and circular construction methodologies. He is currently engaged in the Design++ postdoc research project under the SWIRCULAR initiative, aiming to advance digital transformation in sustainable architecture. His academic background includes a PhD from EPFL’s Media and Design Lab (LDM), where his thesis, 'Machine Understanding of Architectural Space: From Analytical to Generative Applications,' explored methods for learning spatial modalities in architecture.
