Mike Searle

Mike Searle is a Professor of Earth Sciences at the University of Oxford, affiliated with Worcester College. His research focuses on tectonic processes in orogenic belts and ophiolite complexes, combining field geology with geophysical and geochemical analyses. He collaborates internationally, including with Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi on projects in Oman/UAE and Myanmar.

• Research emphasizes SW England Tectonics, Himalayan and Tibetan Tectonics, Aegean Metamorphic Core Complexes, and East Asian Ophiolites
• Utilizes U-Pb geochronology, thermobarometry, and seismic imaging techniques
• Active in projects related to continental collision processes, subduction zone dynamics, and rapid crustal exhumation

Teaching areas include advanced structural geology and tectonics. His work spans field-based studies in 8 countries including Oman, Nepal, Myanmar, and Greece.
