Mike Murphy

Mike Murphy is a Lecturer in the Department of Applied Psychology at University College Cork (UCC), Ireland. He completed a PhD in Cognitive Function in Older Age at UCC (2008) after a BSc in Medical Science (1998) and Applied Psychology (2001). Currently, his research focuses on psychology of older age, ageism and elder abuse, sexuality in older age, right to die, wellbeing across the lifespan, and coaching psychology.

• Research Interests:

  His work explores ageism, elder abuse, end-of-life ethics, LGBTQ+ healthcare, and positive psychology interventions. Recent projects include studies on healthcare avoidance in transgender populations, coaching psychology methodologies, and social support across the lifespan.
