Emeritus Professor Mike Hursthouse is affiliated with the University of Southampton, where he has held the title of Emeritus Professor. His research focuses on crystallography, inorganic chemistry, and materials science, with particular emphasis on structural characterization, polymorphism, and supramolecular chemistry. He has been involved in significant research projects, including the National Crystallography Service funded by EPSRC, demonstrating expertise in crystal engineering and structural analysis.
His research interests include the synthesis and structural analysis of metal complexes, the study of solid-state materials, and the development of novel crystal structures through self-assembly processes. He has contributed to understanding polymorphism in pharmaceutical compounds and the design of optoelectronic materials.
Professor Hursthouse’s work has been supported by grants from the EPSRC, including projects such as the National X-Ray Crystallography Service and combination chemistry initiatives. His publications span topics from nickel and cobalt complexes to the structural properties of organic and inorganic materials.
