Mikael Marklund is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Natural Sciences, Design and Sustainable Development (NDH) at Mid Sweden University. With over two decades of experience in industrial design education and applied research, he has played pivotal roles in establishing and developing the industrial design program since 2004. His career spans academic leadership as Head of Department (2008-2019), program development, and interdisciplinary collaboration with institutions like Umeå University and Svid (Swedish Industrial Design Foundation).
His research focuses on applied industrial design, notably in the Volvo Trucks SET (Safe Effective Transport) project, and bridges design methodology with sustainable development. Marklund's pedagogical expertise includes courses in design perspective, product semiotics, and model techniques.
