Mikael C. Bergbrant is an Associate Professor of Finance and holder of the Reed-McDermott Professorship at St. John's University's Peter J. Tobin College of Business in the Department of Economics and Finance. He specializes in asset pricing, international finance, risk management, and exchange rate exposure. Dr. Bergbrant earned his PhD, MSF, and MBA from the University of South Florida, and holds the CFA charter.
His research focuses on understanding how macroeconomic factors, firm-level competition, and financial markets interact. He has published influential papers in journals like the Journal of Financial Economics and Journal of Corporate Finance, addressing topics such as idiosyncratic volatility pricing, currency risk in loan contracts, and IPO decision-making under credit constraints.
Award-winning educator, he teaches courses in investments, quantitative asset management, and research methods. He advises the St. John's Student Managed Investment Funds ($11M+), and co-chairs the FMA Applied Finance Conference.
