Mika Kivimaki

Prof. Mika Kivimaki is a Professor of Social Epidemiology at University College London (UCL), leading the Mental Health of Older People research group. He holds a PhD from the University of Helsinki (1997) and is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences since 2018. His work focuses on lifecourse epidemiology, particularly the impacts of social determinants, work environments, and health behaviors on aging-related outcomes like dementia, cardiovascular disease, and multimorbidity. He leads large-scale cohort studies such as the Whitehall II cohort and has contributed to global health initiatives including the Lancet Commission on dementia prevention.
