Mika Brown is an Associate Professor of Japanese Language at the University of East Anglia (UEA), affiliated with the School of Media, Language and Communication Studies and the Centre for Japanese Studies. She contributes to language education, cultural promotion, and linguistic research.
Her research focuses on evidential meanings in Japanese and English, language assessment methodologies, and second language acquisition. She has co-authored peer-reviewed articles in journals like Pragmatics and Society.
Dr. Brown has secured funding from The Japan Foundation for multiple projects, including 'Promoting Japanese language and culture in the East Anglia region' (2023–2026) and 'Japan Foundation Teaching Materials' (2023–2024). She received the UEA Engagement Achievement Award (2020) and was a finalist for the UEA Innovation and Impact Award (2021).
