Miia Kuha is a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Jyväskylä, affiliated with the Department of History and Ethnology. Her research focuses on the early modern era, particularly the lived experiences of clergymen’s wives and widows in Lutheran local communities (1650–1710) in Eastern Finland, a region of the Swedish kingdom at the time.

Research Interests include 17th-Century Studies, Lived Religion, and Women’s History, examining how religious practices intersected with social norms and local governance in post-Reformation Finland.
Publications span topics such as church attendance, household rituals, and popular religion, with a focus on micro-historical and anthropological approaches. She also explores methodological frameworks for studying magic and sacred practices in Finland (1550–1800) in collaboration with Emmi Lahti.
