Mihir A. Desai is a Professor of Law at Harvard Law School and the Mizuho Financial Group Professor of Finance at Harvard Business School. He holds dual roles as Senior Associate Dean for Planning and University Affairs and Chair of Doctoral Programs at HBS. His expertise spans tax policy, international finance, and corporate finance. Desai earned a Ph.D. in Political Economy from Harvard, an MBA from HBS (as a Baker Scholar), and a B.A. in History and Economics from Brown University. Notable recognitions include the Student Association Award for teaching excellence from HBS (2001).
His research focuses on tax policy design, corporate governance, and multinational firms' internal capital markets. He is a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and co-director of NBER’s India program. Teaching includes International Financial Management at HBS and Public Economics at Harvard College.
