Mihailo Mihailovic

Mihailo Mihailovic (1998–1998†) was a distinguished academic in the field of chemistry. He held positions at the University Belgrade, including Professor (from 1968), Associate Professor (1961–1968), and Assistant Professor (1955–1961) in the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science. He was also a Visiting Professor at the University of Wisconsin and Cornell University (1967), and served as Science Consultant, President, and Executive Council member at the Institute Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy, Belgrade (1967–1971).

His research focused on Lithium Aluminum Hydride in Organic Chemistry and Intramolecular Oxidative Cyclization of Alcohols with Lead Tetraacetate, contributing to advancements in catalysis and reaction mechanisms. He received notable awards, including the French Academy’s d’Aumale Prize (1985) and the Serbian Republic’s 7th July Prize (1978).
