معرفی
Miguel Pleitez is an Assistant Professor at the Technical University of Munich, affiliated with the School of Medicine and School of Electrical Engineering, working within the Chair of Biological Imaging (CBI). His research focuses on advancing label-free metabolic imaging through mid-infrared optoacoustic/optothermal technologies for applications in cancer, diabetes, and obesity.
- Developed Mid-infraRed Optoacoustic Microscopy (MiROM) for live-cell metabolic monitoring
- Contributed to the foundation of DiaMonTech AG for clinical translation of glucose sensors
- Collaborates with Helmholtz Munich's Institute of Biological and Medical Imaging
His work bridges biophysics, biomedical engineering, and translational medicine, enabling non-invasive monitoring of metabolites and longitudinal metabolic studies without sample destruction. Key technologies include mid-IR excitation combined with optoacoustic/photothermal detection for enhanced sensitivity and biochemical specificity.
Scientific Awards:
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador, for distinguished academic career (2013)
- IOS Press, Student price (2013)
- DAAD Ph.D. Scholarship (2009-2013)
- Willkomm-Stiftung award (2012)
His publications demonstrate expertise in infrared spectroscopy, optoacoustic imaging, and metabolic monitoring, with recent advancements in label-free live-cell imaging and clinical translation.
