Micky Remann

Micky Remann serves as Adjunct Professor of Immersive Media at Bauhaus University Weimar's Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Media Art and Design, where he has pioneered Fulldome education since 2007. He leads the FullDome Lab—housed in Weimar's historic planetarium—and maintains a strategic collaboration with the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar through its UNESCO-Chair for Transcultural Music Studies.

His research redefines media production for 360° environments, tackling fundamental challenges in spatial storytelling where conventional film techniques fail. Key focus areas include Fulldome projection aesthetics, spatial sound design, real-time performance integration, and the fusion of 3D animation with live-acting. This work necessitates reimagining narrative structures to accommodate viewer-controlled attention in immersive spaces, pushing boundaries in both media art and cognitive perception.

Prof. Remann has supervised 32 Bachelor's and Master's theses since 2008, establishing Fulldome production as a formal specialization within the curriculum. The FullDome Lab, initially funded by Bauhaus University's KreativFonds, provides critical infrastructure for student experimentation, resulting in internationally exhibited works that demonstrate practical applications of immersive media theory. His cross-institutional partnership with music conservatories further expands the artistic and technical possibilities of dome-based performance.
