Dr. Michelle Tisdel is an Associate Professor and Research Librarian at the National Library of Norway in Oslo. She holds a doctorate in Social Anthropology from Harvard University (2006) and has contributed to the fields of Cultural Policy, Heritage Production, Museums, Material Culture, and Afro-Cuban Religions.
- PhD in Social Anthropology from Harvard University (2006)
- MA in International Museum Studies from Gothenburg University (2004)
- BA in History of Art and Architecture and Visual Arts from Brown University (2004)
Her research focuses on the intersection of cultural policy and heritage production, particularly examining Afro-Cuban religions and material culture in museum contexts. The keywords related to her work include Anthropology, Heritage Studies, Cultural Policy, and Museum Studies, with sub-fields such as Afro-Cuban Religions and Cultural Heritage. Tisdel has been a board member of the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History since 2008 and previously served on the academic committee for cultural heritage preservation at Arts Council Norway (2009-2011).
