Michelle M. Lilly

Michelle M. Lilly is an Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Psychology at Northern Illinois University (NIU). She directs the Trauma, Mental Health, and Recovery Laboratory, focusing on cognitive and emotional processes that predict PTSD in interpersonal trauma survivors and 911 telecommunicators. Her work explores complex post-traumatic clinical presentations, comorbid conditions like depression and dissociation, and mindfulness-based interventions for emergency responders.

Education:

• Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Michigan (2008)

Her research integrates trauma studies, mindfulness interventions, and emotion regulation, with recent projects examining mechanisms of treatment-related change in stress reduction programs. Publications highlight applications of mindfulness, metacognitive therapies, and psychopathology in high-stress populations.
