Michelle M. Blum is a Teaching Professor and Associate Dean for Student Affairs at Syracuse University. She holds a Ph.D., M.S., and dual B.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Physics from the University of Notre Dame, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and the University of New York at Albany. Her academic roles include Dean’s Faculty Fellow for Assessment and leadership in engineering education innovation.
Dr. Blum’s research focuses on improving undergraduate engineering education through inquiry-based learning, student design project enhancement, and professional skills development. Her technical work includes tribology, lubrication, and biomedical materials characterization. Notable contributions include developing active learning materials for first-year engineering courses and advancing hydrogel-based biomaterials for medical applications.
