Michelle Lynn Markstrom

Michelle Lynn Markstrom serves as an Assistant Instructor in the Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostics Program at Michigan State University, transitioning from Laboratory Coordinator to this role in January 2020. She teaches BLD 213L, BLD 314L, BLD 424L, and graduate-level labs while co-advising the Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostics Student Association (BLDSA) since Summer 2020.

Her expertise spans clinical laboratory methods derived from 23 years of professional experience, including hematology leadership at St. Joseph Mercy Livingston Hospital (1995-2018) and EIA production at Cayman Chemical Company. Research interests emphasize translational clinical diagnostics with focus areas in hematology, medical technology, and biomedical diagnostics.

Markstrom holds H(ASCP)CM certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology and actively mentors students through BLDSA advising. Her teaching philosophy centers on connecting theoretical knowledge with clinical passion.
