Her research focuses on the intersection of race and gender in the American labor market, with particular emphasis on Black communities and women of color. Her work examines labor economics, labor market discrimination, and wage gaps, especially how racial and gender discrimination create unique economic challenges for African American women. She has developed the concept of the "double gap" - the compounded disadvantage African American women face due to both racial and gender wage gaps.
Dr. Holder's recent publications reveal a consistent focus on labor market disparities, with notable work on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Black women's employment, corporate implications of wage gaps, and broader issues of economic inequality. Her research spans academic journals, policy reports, and public commentary, demonstrating her commitment to both scholarly rigor and practical policy impact.
