Michelle Fournet

Dr. Michelle Fournet is a Visiting Assistant Professor in Acoustic Ecology at the University of New Hampshire’s Department of Biological Sciences. She leads the Marine Bioacoustics and Behavior Lab (Sea BABEL), focusing on acoustic ecology to study marine organism interactions with human activities and climate change. Her work emphasizes using sound as a tool for conservation and assessing species resilience in changing oceans.

• Education: PhD in Wildlife Biology (Oregon State University), MS in Marine Resource Management, BFA in Theatre Arts.
• Labs: Director of Sea BABEL and Sound Science Research Collective (non-profit).
• Research Interests: Marine mammal communication, anthropogenic noise impacts, acoustic indicators for ecosystem health, Arctic/sub-Arctic species (cetaceans, pinnipeds), and tropical/sub-tropical fish acoustics.
