Michelle Conroy

Michelle Conroy, MD, is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine and Director of the Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship Program. She leads the Geriatric Psychiatry Clinic at the VA CT Healthcare System and chairs the VA CT Dementia Committee. Her clinical expertise focuses on complex neuropsychiatric illness, cognitive disorders, and the intersection of psychiatry with medical conditions. Dr. Conroy is deeply involved in training, supervising Geriatric Psychiatry and Geriatric Medicine fellows, psychiatry residents, medical students, and pharmacy students. Nationally, she chaired the AAGP Scholars Program and currently leads the AAGP Teaching and Training Committee, co-chairing their 2021 and 2022 annual meetings.

Dr. Conroy’s research emphasizes geriatric psychiatry education, including curriculum development for trainees and pandemic-era innovations like the AAGP’s online trainee program. She has published extensively on topics such as dementia pharmacotherapy, cultural psychiatry in aging populations, and health justice in geriatric training. Her awards include the 2022 AAGP Educator of the Year and 2024 Distinguished Fellow recognition. She is board-certified in General and Geriatric Psychiatry.

Labs/Teams: Directs the Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship Program and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams at the VA and Yale, focusing on dementia care and health equity.
