Her research critically examines the intersection of cultural anthropology and nursing education, focusing on how social class and cultural identity shape learning experiences for both nursing students and professionals. Specializing in the Anthropology of Education, she investigates cultural expressions of health and illness, nurse coping mechanisms in crisis situations, and the impact of cultural dynamics on healthcare delivery—particularly in end-of-life care and long-term condition management. Her work reveals how social hierarchies influence academic attainment and clinical practice within multicultural healthcare environments.
Dr. Carter teaches across the Adult Nursing BSc (Hons) and MSc programs, with course specializations including Public Health, Culture & Diversity in Healthcare, Professional Nursing, and Management of Long-term Conditions. Her leadership extends to departmental administration and international nursing education initiatives.
