Michele Insanally is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Her research focuses on neural circuits underlying perceptual flexibility, particularly how auditory information is processed and acted upon during adaptive behaviors. Her lab employs rodent models to investigate population dynamics in large-scale auditory networks, combining behavioral paradigms, in vivo electrophysiology, computational modeling, optogenetics, and circuit mapping.
Research goals include understanding how neuronal representations adapt during learning, the neural basis of behavioral gating, and disruptions in hearing disorders. The lab is located at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and inquiries can be directed to mni@pitt.edu.
