Michele H. Mokrzycki, MD, MS, is a Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine (Nephrology) at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and an attending nephrologist at Montefiore Einstein. She holds dual roles as a clinical nephrologist and researcher, focusing on hemodialysis vascular access complications, particularly infections and thrombosis. Dr. Mokrzycki completed her medical degree at the University of Vermont College of Medicine (1987), residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Connecticut (1990), and nephrology fellowship at the same institution (1992). She earned a Master of Science in Clinical Research from Albert Einstein College of Medicine (2000).
Her clinical expertise includes glomerular diseases, acute/chronic kidney disease, hypertension, kidney stones, renal cystic diseases, and vascular access for hemodialysis. Research efforts emphasize reducing catheter-related infections and thrombosis through multidisciplinary approaches, including a notable AETNA Foundation grant. She is a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology and serves on professional committees such as the Nephrologists Transforming Dialysis Safety Initiative (NTDS) and the National Kidney Foundation.
Dr. Mokrzycki has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications and serves on the editorial board of Kidney360. Awards include the 2020 Reviewer of the Year by Kidney360. Her professional activities include roles in guideline development, quality improvement projects, and global nephrology advocacy.
