Michele Bratcher Goodwin

Michele Bratcher Goodwin holds dual appointments as Senior Lecturer at Harvard Medical School and Chancellor's Professor at the University of California, Irvine, where she founded and directs the Center for Biotechnology and Global Health Policy. She is an elected member of the Hastings Center, the American Law Institute, and a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, serving as Adviser for the American Law Institute's Restatement Third of Torts: Remedies.

Her research spans bioethics, health law, and race, with extensive fieldwork on human trafficking globally focusing on marriage, sex, organs, and biologics. She is renowned for scholarship on reproductive rights and biotechnology law, highlighted by acclaimed books including Policing The Womb and Black Markets, with her health law work cited as 'exceptional' in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Among her honors, Goodwin received the 2020-21 Distinguished Senior Faculty Award for Research from the University of California. Additional distinctions include:
