Michele Andrasik, PhD, is a Principal Staff Scientist at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division, serving as Director of Social & Behavioral Sciences and Community Engagement for both the HIV Vaccine Trials Network and the COVID-19 Prevention Network. She holds affiliate faculty appointments as an Assistant Professor at the University of Washington in the Department of Global Health and the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences.
Her educational background includes:
- PhD in Psychology from the University of Miami (2006)
- MS in Psychology from the University of Miami (2003)
- EdM in Psychological Counseling from Columbia University, Teachers College (2000)
- MA in Health Education from Columbia University, Teachers College (2000)

Dr. Andrasik's research centers on HIV prevention and health disparities among African American and African-born populations, with emphasis on sexual risk behavior, victimization, and substance abuse among African-American women. Her methodological expertise includes qualitative research design and community-based participatory approaches to develop culturally responsive interventions and improve community engagement in clinical trials.
She leads multiple NIH-funded initiatives:
- Increasing MSM engagement in HIV vaccine trials (NIMH)
- Reducing HIV disparities through sexual concurrency communication (NICHD)
- Community participation in research (CFAR)
- Ethnic minority recruitment in psychology (APA)
Her leadership in the HIV Vaccine Trials Network and COVID-19 Prevention Network focuses on equitable community partnership and BIPOC inclusion in vaccine trials, ensuring research addresses systemic health disparities through collaborative frameworks.
