Dr. Michela Cortese is a Lecturer in Screenwriting and Television Studies at Falmouth University since 2014. She leads the online MA Writing for Script & Screen program and focuses on script development, interdisciplinary collaborations, and climate-fiction films. Her doctoral research explores climate change communication through filmmaking and has led to international partnerships.
Her publications include a chapter in the Handbook of Climate Change Communication (2018) and articles on climate-change documentaries in The Conversation. Cortese co-founded The Script Department, a production company developing scripted podcasts and showcasing global screenwriters. She has collaborated on audio thrillers like The Dead Cry Out (2018) and Italia Noir: Murder on the Amalfi Coast (2020), featuring notable actors such as Allen Leech and Dylan Kussman.
