Michel Steinmetz

Dr. Michel Steinmetz is Associate Professor at EPFL and heads the Computational X-ray Imaging group at PSI. His research develops advanced imaging algorithms for synchrotron applications, pioneering 3D nanoscale techniques including magnetization vector nanotomography and scattering tensor tomography. Steinmetz's work reveals microtubule organization principles and creates new anti-infective therapeutics.

He combines structural biology with computational methods to investigate microtubule dynamics and protein interactions. Recent innovations include photoswitchable microtubule inhibitors for optical cytoskeleton control and methods for high-resolution imaging of integrated circuits.
