Dr. Michel Klein is an Associate Professor in the Department of Artificial Intelligence at the Faculty of Science, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and affiliated with the Network Institute. His research focuses on leveraging technology for behavior change, particularly in health and wellbeing contexts. He explores sensor data analysis, computational decision-making for interactions, and system design to support behavior modification. He has supervised 15 PhD theses and contributed to projects like the HumanE AI Network and PROMISS. Ancillary roles include serving as a member of the Provinciale Staten Noord-Holland since 2015.
Key research interests include computational models for mood regulation, social network analysis for health interventions, and gamification in mental health training. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being (SDG 3) and reducing inequalities (SDG 10).
