Michel CACOUROS is an Associate Professor (Maître de conférences) and Director of Research (HDR) at the École Pratique des Hautes Études (EPHE), Section of Historical and Philological Sciences. He previously served as Assistant Professor at the Catholic Institute of Paris (1995-2015). His academic foundation includes:
- Masters and DEA in Greek Studies from Paris IV-Sorbonne
- Doctorate in Greek Studies (Paris IV-Sorbonne, 1992)
- HDR on Greek Aristotelianism (EPHE, 2014)
- Diploma in Oriental Languages (Arabic) from INALCO
His research focuses on Greek intellectual traditions spanning classical antiquity to the modern era, with specializations in:
- Byzantine philology and exegesis
- Aristotelian commentary traditions
- Cross-cultural transmission to Arabic/Latin worlds
- Manuscript codicology
He has received the distinguished Knight in the Order of Academic Palms award. At EPHE, he leads the Medieval Studies specialization and coordinates master's modules. As founding member of the Sicilian Society for Classical Studies and associate at UMR 8167 'Orient et Méditerranée', he maintains extensive academic collaborations.
